Sauerkraut Grilled Onions

This is a great side dish to go with sausages or grilled meat. It is easy to put together and can be left to cook while you are grilling your meat.

2 Vidalia onions, sliced thin
1 red pepper, seeded, cored, and sliced thin
1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp caraway seeds
1/2 cup sauerkraut (I use Gold Mine Raw Organic)


  1. Over medium high heat, heat olive oil.
  2. Add onions and pepper and saute until they soften, about 10 minutes.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Add sauerkraut and caraway seeds and continue to cook until heated through, about 5-10 more minutes.
  4. Season with salt and pepper, if desired.
